Illustration Friday-Tiny

Princess and Dragon

Hello Everyone!  It has been such a long time...over a year!  I have been posting more over on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/bethannemarescaillustrations...check it out!

So, my first book, "Megan Owlet" was published last spring...which has been a fabulous experience!  It is so exciting and rewarding to see your words and pictures in a book that others enjoy!

So, hopefully I will be getting back to more painting and posting here!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Everyone!  It has been such a long time!!  I am so happy to let you all know that my book, Megan Owlet, will be out in April and I am so excited!  I spent most of last summer painting and painting and painting the illustrations for the book.  It was hard work  but so much fun at the same time!!  It is now available on amazon and Barnes and Noble for pre-orders!!  I am so thankful to Sky Pony Press and my fabulous editor, Julie Matysik for her endless kindess and patience with all of my "newbie" questions!!  You can check out the book here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1632204045/ref=cm_sw_r_fa_dp_AmEnub1N3DEDT.

So anyway...here's my submission for Illustration Friday's word "toy"...Dragon and his best buddy, Hedgehog love their new skateboards!!!

If-Refrain

Sasha could not refrain from trying on her party dress one more time!!

Illustration Friday-Lush

I cannot explain how good it feels to be back doing Illustration Friday!  It has been a long time!  This, I originally sketched for IF's word jungle, but didn't have time to paint it.  SO, when I saw this week's word, lush, I made sure I had time to paint it and get it on my blog!

As for me, I am back teaching kindergarten part-time, still working on my book...interest in my the dummy...so keep your fingers crossed for me!  Hopefully I will get back to painting regularly now that summer is over and the kids are back at school!  Thanks for stopping by!

IF-Robot

Miriam just loved Saturdays.  She'd get up just as the sun was rising and head out to the country straight to the farmer's market.

Hi there!  I loved Illustration Friday's theme, robot, this week...can you tell?  I tried to be a little different this week, as I usually like to use some white space in my background... So, using color to fill the page was a bit tricky in spots!   I hope you like it, too!

Thanks for visiting!

Illustration Friday - Wild

Even in the wild there is sharing.

Here's my submission for this week's Illustration Friday prompt, wild! It's one of those sketches that have been sitting in my sketchbook for a while just waiting to be painted!  Finally I had a prompt that fit it...yay!

Illustration Friday-Eye Glasses

Grammie's hat felt different today...it wasn't until she put on her eye glasses that she realized why!  Silly Grammie!  Happy snowday in the Northeast!!

IF - Wool

Here's my entry for Illustration Friday's word prompt wool. I have been back to using cold press watercolor paper and am really enjoying it! I was really happy with how it turned out!  Happy Monday everyone!

IF-Storm

Lucille in the storm.

This was us this weekend as we got 24 inches of snow in the blizzard that hit the northeast!  It really is A LOT of snow!!  But, poor Lucille, I hope she gets somewhere warm soon!

IF - (Cart) wheel!

Lucille did everything with flare.

I know this is a little late for IF's word wheel...but better late than never!  Little Lucille seems to be popping up a lot in my sketch book these days!  I must admit, I am in LOVE!

Happy Blizzard Day tomorrow to all in the northeast...stay safe!

IF - Myth

For this week's IF word myth, I decided to show one of my favorites...mermaids!

Illustration Friday - Ocean

Yay!  My second Illustration Friday in a row!  Aren't these two ocean friends cute?  I think they are about to embark on an adventure together!

Hope you are having a good week!  Thanks for stopping by!

Illustration Friday - Edge

Hi!  It seems as if another month whizzed by and I didn't get a chance to participate in IF!  BUT...now I can!  I was determined to get this done...a painting for my little nephew's birthday!  It just so happens that it fits (sort of) the theme edge!  Don't fall in dragon!  I am sorry the scan is so grainy..I am not really sure why!  I also had to saturate a bit because the scan came out so bad!  Oh well...maybe it's time for a new scanner?

Well...I hope you enjoy this one and hopefully it will not be another month before I do another post!!  Happy New Year to you!

IF - Stretch!

(Click on image to see it larger!)

Poor wormy!  He really is being stretched, isn't he?  BUT...a bird's gotta eat!

Hope you are all doing well!  Thanks for stopping by!

Tree

Hello there!  It's been a while, I know!  Well, this was going to be my submission for Illustration Friday's word tree, but I didn't get it finished in time!  Oh well...!  My children are all done with soccer season and on to basketball and gymnastics...this means, though, not as many nights out at practices...only 2 nights a week as compared to the 6 days a week we were spending at soccer...SO this means I have much more time to draw and paint and play...yay!

Illustration Friday- Water

I really wanted to create something new for this...as ideas for water are endless....BUT...there is just no time this week!  Although, I don't think I ever posted this here...so it's new to you! :)!  Have a great rest of the week!

Illustration Friday - Identical

Here's my submission for IF's word identical.  I am not really sure why or even how I came up with this.  These adorable feathered friends popped into my sketchbook and I just had to paint them!  It's funny how an image like this can become so clear in your head with composition and color...even before you paint it!!  Are they identical? Probably not...but you have to look closely!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Illustration Friday - Bounce

(Click on image for a better view!)

"This is how you bounce a basketball, Little Owlet."

Wow!  It has been a while since I was able to participate in Illustration Friday!  We've been busy here  with vacations, camps, family and lots and lots of cousins! I can't believe it's August already!  This summer is flying by!  Thanks for stopping by!

IF - Suspend/Vocal

She was such an enthusiastic cheerer that she'd spend the entire game with the "Go Team Go" sign suspended over her head!....Okay, okay, I know it's a stretch, but I have not had much time to paint these days with the kids home for the summer.  Busy, busy days, but lots of fun!  SO...this piece is actually from a sketch I had posted for IF's word Vocal back in April and I finally got to paint it!  Hope you like it!
