I like it better without the background (as the green tones of the grass are very similar in value to those of the monster, making it difficult to see from a distance).
I agree, both are lovely but the no background makes these great characters shine a bit more. Also, the way the square head lines up with the right side of the building is a bit distracting in the second? Love the idea of costumes for chickens, and so cute!

ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! I personally like the background. It gives the painting more depth and really creates a setting for the characters. Nice job!
